The best book I have read recently is Joseph from the Men of Character series by Gene Getz. It’s a great Bible study manual, and it’s written in that creative leader building style that Gene has been known for over the past five decades.
I love biographies, I love to read how people overcome adversity and I love to learn stuff. I also relate to Joseph’s trials. I was the last of five brothers, who all shared one bedroom. I was seven years younger than the closest brother next to me, and I was also a victim of older sibling torture.
This book has renewed my spirit again and again and has reminded me how using biblical principals instead of fights can produce better relationships and champion over any attacks and trials in my life.
Robbed and sold into slavery by his brothers, Joseph could have lived a life filled with bitterness and hate. Instead, he stood on his faith in God to save him, and eventually returned home in triumph to pardon those who had wronged him. Disappointment can destroy the joy of living, or, by contract, make it all the more beautiful and precious. With faith, perseverance will always outlast persecution.
