True discipleship is a road Christians are meant to walk together. God intends that we are actively involved with someone who is discipling us while we are also discipling someone else. But in most churches, the responsibility or the congregation’s spiritual progress is put on the pastor and his preaching.
LifeWay Christian Resources (our parent company) has created a new resource with the prayer of launching a disciple-making movement in churches that will take some of the pressure off pastors. Disciples Path: The Journey is an intentional one-year plan for discipleship founded on Jesus’ model of discipleship.
Created by 14 disciple-making church leaders, Disciples Path is four volumes of 13 sessions of Bible studies (Note: not available in WORDsearch) focused on showing believers how to become mature disciples who in turn make other disciples. These volumes will guide church leaders through how to instill the doctrines, biblical understandings, principles, and practices of discipleship with the end of making disciples who would make disciples. This group of leaders included senior pastors, education ministers, small group pastors, collegiate ministers, and discipleship pastors from various ministry areas and traditions. The outcome is a series of studies that, when used as suggested, is a powerful tool in the hands of anyone willing to disciple another believer.
While most small-group studies facilitate transformation through relationship and information, these disciple-making resources emphasize the principles of modeling, practicing, and multiplying.
It’s our prayer as a ministry that relationships forged through The Journey will lead to disciple-making for generations to come. Will you join us in that prayer? You can also preview three sessions free at disciplespath.com/thejourney.
