Weekly Free Book – Faith’s Checkbook

If God so willed it we could live without bread, even as Jesus did for forty days; but we could not live without His Word. By that Word we were created, and by it alone can we be kept in being, for he sustaineth all things by the Word of His power. Bread is a second cause; the Lord Himself is the first source of our sustenance. He can work without the second cause as well as with it; and we must not tie Him down to one mode of operation. Let us not be too eager after the visible, but let us look to the invisible God.

Happy Friday everyone! Today’s free download, usually $4.95, is Faith’s Checkbook by Charles Haddon Spurgeon.

First published in the late 1800’s, Faith’s Checkbook presents 365 of God’s most wonderful promises as found in Scripture. Charles Spurgeon urges the reader to view each Bible promise as a check written to them by God, which can be cashed by personally endorsing it and receiving the gift from God that it represents. Each verse is followed by a brief thought or application, making this collection ideal for personal or family devotions.

Few people in history can be known by one name and have it ring true with their audience, and “Spurgeon” is one of them. Over time, Spurgeon has become known and revered as the “Prince of Preachers.” In the last 200 years he has been one of the most influential men for not only Preachers of the Gospel but for those who have not had the opportunity to hear and receive the Gospel message.
