New! – Forms of the Old Testament Literature Series

The Forms of the Old Testament Literature (FOTL) is a series of commentary volumes that presents a form-critical analysis of books in the Old Testament according to a standard outline and methodology.

The series endeavors to study the history behind the form-critical discussion of the material, to bring consistency to the terminology for the genres and formulas of the biblical literature and to expose the exegetical procedure in such a way as to enable pastors and students of the Bible to engage in their own analysis and interpretation. Every volume examines the structure, genre, setting, and intention of the biblical literature in question.

In addition to the commentary on the biblical books, the volumes within this bundle include an introduction to the major genres found in the Old Testament narrative literature as well as a glossary of the genres discussed in the commentary.

The Forms of the Old Testament Literature was put together by Eerdmans Publishing, the same group that put together some of Wordsearch’s all-time bestselling sets such as the New International Commentary and Kittel’s Theological Dictionary of the New Testament. Readers will find this bundle, which covers over 5,000 pages in print form, to be exegetical and overall extremely beneficial when preparing sermons or lessons.
