Reflections on the Austin Training Conference

For a lot of the staff here at WORDsearch, myself included, the days we circle on the calendar and really look forward to are the ones in which we get to host a training conference.  Over the past couple years, the majority of our conferences have been held at the beautiful LifeWay facilities in downtown Nashville.  However, last week, we enjoyed holding one here in the northwest side of Austin.

Around 60 people joined us for the three-day event, and the four different trainers definitely kept everyone busy and filled with a bunch of new knowledge.  While one of the purposes of the conference is to learn more about how to study God’s Word better through our software, the reason I personally look forward to these conferences so much is due to the fellowship.

On a daily basis here at the WORDsearch office, I get to interact with our customers through phone calls and e-mails.  But it’s always so inspiring to meet our incredible users face-to-face and hearing about the ministry that they serve.  Like any company does, we also occasionally have struggles and difficult times.  For us, that statement rings true for the months of June and July as we went through some growing pains with technology.  But to finish out the month of July with this conference, my faith in our mission here at WORDsearch has never been stronger.   Our mission is to “serve those who preach and teach to change lives.”  To meet the users of our software in person and to hear about what they are doing to change lives is incredibly inspiring.

Your Original WORDsearch iPad App is Now Available for Reinstalling

wsb_classic_email
Here is some good news if you’ve been wanting us to bring back the original WORDsearchiPad app. Your old app is now available. You can reinstall it and use it as you did in the past.

WORDsearch Bible Classic – In the App Store Now

While we continue fixing the bugs in the new app, you can now reinstall your original version of the app. We were required to give it a new name, so just go to the Apple App Store and search for WORDsearch Bible Classic. If you are on your iPad now, you can find it by clicking here.

Just sign in with your email address and password to install. If you’ve already installed the new app, it’s not necessary to delete it from your iPad. This way, you’ll automatically be notified each time a corrected and updated version of the new app is available. You can have both apps on your iPad at the same time. It’s your choice. You can run the old app, the new app or both.

New Update Available for iPad

IPadPhoneBIn my last communication to you, I shared that we were working on some improvements to the new iPad app. We have corrected many of the problems in a new update that is now available in the App Store, and we are continuing to work on a few other issues.

Our current solution is to continue bringing you regular updates on the new app until it delivers a better experience than the older version and much more.

With this latest update, you can now:

  • Copy and paste using books in your WORDsearch library
  • View books you have recently read
  • View only books that you have downloaded to your iPad
  • Sync Bibles and commentaries more reliably
  • Set your default Bible
  • Find book titles now sorted with “The,” “An” and “A” removed

Progress Update on WORDsearch iPad App

IPadPhoneDear WORDsearch Friend,

About a week ago I wrote you about the troubles we discovered within the new WORDsearchiPad app. I promised to keep you updated on our progress and that is why I’m writing you today.

Our technical team is carefully addressing one issue at a time, strengthening the app and eliminating the issues that sometimes cause problems. The items currently being repaired are:

  • The app crashes upon trying to launch and load books
  • The bug related to the default Bible setting
  • The bug related to syncing panes

We are not yet at the point where we can deliver a new update with all the fixes that need to be in place, but we are making good progress. We are also working on additional fixes and new options to make your experience better in the days ahead, including the ability to copy content from your WORDsearch titles.
