Staff Picks – Psychology & Christianity

Each week the blog will feature a favorite book of a staff member that’s available on WORDsearch.

As a somewhat introspective person I often encounter mental barriers when I come to the intersection of my personal faith and science. More specifically the human sciences. By the title alone I was pretty sure I’d find something in Psychology & Christianity that I might find useful, or interesting nonetheless. I was right on both counts!

Author David G. Meyers summed up my internal struggle and the questions I ask myself perfectly in the first chapter, “So, those of us in psychological science are sometimes asked, how do you reconcile your commitment to psychological science with your commitment to the Christian Faith? (1) How do they fit together? (2) Are they mutually supportive? (3) Are there points of tension?”

With that, I dove in. The quest for better understanding had begun!

Staff Picks – Divine Foreknowledge: Four Views

DivineFore4ViewsEach week the blog will feature a favorite book of a staff member that’s available on WORDsearch.

What does God know, and how does He know it? In what way is God sovereign? Are the wills of God and Man compatible? If so, how are they compatible? Christians have long pondered over these questions for good reason… they are central to the very understanding of the Gospel.

What I most enjoy about working at WORDsearch is that I am constantly exposed to the best Christian works and am privileged to help make them available in digital format to preachers, teachers, scholars and laymen alike. Recently, one such work has attracted my attention, Divine Foreknowledge: Four Views (Edited By: James K. Beilby, Paul R. Eddy).

Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day from WORDsearch! In honor of some of the moms in our lives, some of our staff shared what they love about their mothers.

When parents have multiple children, they are often determined for their kids to know that they don’t choose favorites.  Well, as for my mom, she has always been persistent to claim me as her “favorite son.”  While this recognition is appreciated, it makes sense once realized that I only have an older sister.
