Free Friday! 100 Years from Today

Free Book Friday for Bible Software

Life on earth is so short. Eternity is so long. Yet, many of us focus almost entirely on the seventy, eighty or more years that we expect to spend on this earth and very little, if at all, on where we will spend eternity. This is not good planning, “…what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his life [in the eternal Kingdom of God]?” (Mark 8:36, AMP).

Happy Friday everyone! Today’s free download, usually $6.95 is 100 Years from Today by Jack Hartman.

Using Study Bibles in Wordsearch

Study Bibles are extremely helpful tools for studying Scripture. They usually contain the Bible text along with study notes. This way when you are reading a passage and have a question about something, you can just find the note on that verse and see what the commentary says. Most study Bibles also include maps, charts, timelines, outlines, overviews, word studies, character studies, photographs, and diagrams that bring more clarity to the text.

In Wordsearch, study Bibles are even more helpful. Instead of having to use the ESV with the ESV Study Bible notes only, you can choose any translation you have in your library. So, you can have any of your preferred translations open, and all of the material in the study Bibles will sync and follow along. For example, you can use the KJV Bible text along with the CSB Study Bible. How cool is that?

2 New Helpful Study Tools

Today we released 2 new helpful study tools for your Wordsearch library, and wanted to highlight how they can help you in preaching & teaching.

Hours with the Bible is a 6-volume set by John Cunningham Geikie. Geikie was a contemporary of Charles Spurgeon, who described him as “one of the best religious writers of the age.” This 3,000-page reference work covers much of the Old Testament, including the Patriarchs, Judges, Kings, and Prophets. Geikie delves deep into the lives of these key characters of the Bible. His writing flows in a narrative style that you’ll find inspiring and easy to read. This set has been out of print for many years and is difficult to find.

A Textual Commentary on the Greek New Testament, 2nd Edition is a scholarly work by Dr. Bruce Metzger. It is a very different type of commentary because its focus is mainly on textual variants. Metzger writes, “Most commentaries on the Bible seek to explain the meaning of words, phrases, and ideas of the scriptural text in their nearer and wider context; a textual commentary, however, is concerned with the prior question, ‘What is the original text of the passage?” In this companion to the United Bible Societies Greek New Testament (4th ed), Metzger and his expert team of scholars systematically work through the earliest manuscripts of the New Testament so that we can better understand and trust the Bible we have today. Preachers, teachers, and serious students of God’s Word have found this to be a valuable exegetical resource.

Both of these are on sale for a limited time.

The Broadman Bible Commentary

The Broadman Bible Commentary is a 13-volume commentary on the entire Bible that was first published in the 1960s. Beloved by those who preach, teach, and study God’s Word, it has since gone out of print and can be hard to find. Our parent company, B&H Publishing Group, holds the rights to this great work and this has allowed us to create a digital edition for your Wordsearch library.

A Commentary for Those Who Love God’s Word

The Broadman Bible Commentary was written for everyone with a desire to dig deeper into God’s Word. This includes scholars, preachers, teachers and Bible students. The editors of this work make this clear in their preface to the series:
