Words have always been important to me, so all too often I get exasperated by the cliches and the jargon that dominate much of our thoughts and conversation. Of course, both cliches and jargon are necessary and have their place, but when used thoughtlessly, the words used to form them often lose substance. After a while, I find myself forgetting the power and significance behind certain catch phrases and words… which is kind of problematic when those phrases involve words like faithgrace and God.

Staff Pick – HCSB Study Bible

I’m a big proponent of daily Bible reading because everything in life makes more sense when God’s Word is fresh in my mind every day. It strengthens my spirit, gives me energy and makes me a better husband, father and minister to others. This year, I chose to read through the HCSB Study Bible and it has been an absolute joy!

For years, I had the mistaken opinion that the Holman Christian Standard Bible was a “Baptist Bible” because it is published by Broadman & Holman. Reading this study Bible has certainly changed my mind. My experience has been that this is a very accurate translation that is easy to read and understand. The HCSB Study Bible includes a ton of helpful material that will bless anyone, regardless of their denominational preference.

Through the ministry of WORDsearch, it is our team’s desire to offer you resources and tools that will equip you in all that you do to build up the body of Christ and hopefully messages that will help you to not lose heart and to keep running the race God has set before you.

My mother was raised in a family that was very religious. In fact they were so religious, they didn’t go to church because they saw the church as less than perfect. My great-grandmother led my mother to faith in Christ as a young teenage girl and as she grew in her faith, she also grew in her longing to be a part of a church family. Mom told me stories of looking out her bedroom window where she could see the small country church in her community and longing to go. She began to pray that God would give her a husband that loved Christ and loved the church so they could go together and take their children.
