New volume added to the Paideia Commentaries on the New Testament!

The name Paideia (pronounced “Pie-Day-Ah”) is an appropriate title for this 14-volume commentary. Paideia is a Greek word and concept that was highly regarded in ancient times. It refers to the proper tutoring shared between a master and student. Paideia appears several times in the New Testament, such as in 2 Timothy 3:16: “Every scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for showing mistakes, for correcting, and for training character.” This excellent commentary does exactly that.

Guest Devotional – Keeping Your Eyes on Jesus

Over the last few weeks, the Lord has consistently been reminding me to keep my eyes fixed on Him. He took me to Matthew 14 the other day, and we re-read the story of Peter walking on the water. The Lord had invited Peter to share in His wonder, and Peter accepted the invitation. But when Peter evaluated his situation and saw the wind and waves, he almost sank.

I wish that I could say that I can’t relate to Peter, but I can. The Lord invites me to share in His work, I excitedly accept, then I look at the circumstances and allow the baby tares of doubt and fear to take root. I take my eyes off of the one who initiated the work and look at the impossibility of it.
